How does the battery work?
Every donation adds runtime at a fixed, published rate: $1 counts as about one day online. The battery shows how much reader-funded runtime is left, on a straight scale where a full battery is 365 days. It drains one day per day and charges the moment Ko-fi tells us a donation arrived.
Is $1 exactly what one day costs?
No. It is a round, published rate so the battery is easy to read. Running costs change month to month, so we say a donation helps keep distro.watch online, not that it pays an exact bill.
What happens if the battery runs empty?
Nothing switches off. The editor keeps paying the bills as before; the battery shows how much of that readers are carrying. It is an honest gauge, not a countdown.
How do I pay?
Through Ko-fi, with PayPal, a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You do not need a Ko-fi account. Pick the same amount on Ko-fi that you chose here.
Do donations change the rankings?
Never. Rankings, comparisons and recommendations follow the published methodology and their sources. Donors get no say in them, and neither do advertisers.
Is my donation private?
We store the amount, currency, time and Ko-fi transaction ID only. The public battery and the recent-charges list show how much time was added and when, never who gave it.
