KaOS
A lean, independent rolling distro focused on Qt.
What is KaOS?
KaOS is an independent, built-from-scratch rolling distribution for x86_64 only. It keeps its repositories deliberately small and focused on Qt and KDE applications. In February 2026 it replaced KDE Plasma, its desktop for 12 years, with the niri scrolling-tiling compositor and the Noctalia shell, and it uses Dinit instead of systemd. Its narrow focus means a smaller package selection than larger distributions.
