What to do now that Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is end of life
Running an end-of-life release means new vulnerabilities in the kernel, browser libraries, and system packages stay unpatched. The next supported step is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, supported until Jun 1, 2027.
Use Software Updater, or run sudo do-release-upgrade. LTS releases are offered the next LTS once its first point release (.1) is out; interim releases upgrade one release at a time.
