What to do now that Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is end of life
Running an end-of-life release means new vulnerabilities in the kernel, browser libraries, and system packages stay unpatched. If you cannot upgrade yet, extended support runs until Apr 26, 2028, usually as a paid service. The next supported step is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, supported until Jun 1, 2027.
Use Software Updater, or run sudo do-release-upgrade. LTS releases are offered the next LTS once its first point release (.1) is out; interim releases upgrade one release at a time.
